In 1982 Beverly’s long career began in the financial planning field. Having been a teacher, Beverly was drawn toward helping educators and others plan, prepare and invest for their retirements.
Beverly realized that many in the Public School Employees Retirement System (PSERS) and the State Employees Retirement System (SERS) were not getting in depth help to prepare them to make the decisions they were facing. Establishing an easy to understand presentation of their retirement system enabled them to make important decisions that would affect the rest of their lives.
Many of Beverly’s clients have been with Barr Associates since the 1980’s and 90’s. She enjoys reviewing their retirement plans which include investments and insurances. Barr Associates always puts the client’s best interest first.
Getting caught up on clients’ lives with all its changes and understanding what’s important to them, has been of prime importance. Clients start out as clients, become friends and then after awhile “just like family.” “People don’t care what you know until they know that you care!”
In 2002, Beverly’s son, Aaron, joined the firm bringing with him a wealth of knowledge and understanding to bring Barr Associates to the forefront of the retirement planning field.
Beverly and husband, Jim, have two sons, Aaron and Adam, and two grandsons, Logan and Alex. Adam resides in Harrisburg, where he is a Property and Casualty Insurance Agent. Beverly enjoys time with family and is especially grateful to be active in her grandchildren’s lives.
Beverly has been on Youth for Christ’s Corporate Board for over 15 years, actively participates in a women’s Bible study, and attends Ephrata Community Church. She is an avid gardener and enjoys giving away and preserving her garden’s bounty. She and Jim enjoy home projects having recently completed an 8-year total restoration of their 1879 farmhouse where they have collected over many years the antiques that fill their home.
